CCHP System For Public Schools
An Ontario Schoolboard was looking into the possibility of implementing Combined Cooling, Heat and Power (CCHP) technology, also known as Tri-generation, at three Public Schools: George Peck Public School (39,285 sq. ft.), Vradenberg Junior Public School (33,424 sq. ft.) and Harwood Public School (39,986 sw. Ft.).
Warner Levy EnviroEnergy investigated the feasibility for implementing a CCHP system to allow the school to be self sufficient in producing its own power and, at the same time, supply the thermal load for both heating and cooling. We tabulated the school’s existing gas, power, and water consumption data to determine demand loads. We identified options for the CCHP system. We used National Resources Canada RETScreen software to assess the technical, financial, and environmental suitability of each CCHP system option. The report provided a recommendation for the proposed CCHP system with the associated cost estimate.
