Pratt & Whitney Canada Fuel Pipe Network Upgrade
Location: Mississauga, Ontario
Pratt & Whitney Canada upgraded the fuel pipe network at its aircraft engine test facility in Mississauga, Ontario. This upgrade involved the conversion of an underground fuel piping system connecting a tank farm to test cells to an aboveground stainless steel fuel pipe network.
Warner Levy EnviroEnergy provided the process mechanical and civil design as well as contract administration for this project. This involved the design of a load-bearing concrete trench for pipes crossing the road and piping supports mounted on building walls of different types of construction in accordance with ASME, CSA, ANSI and TSSA codes and standards as well as the stringent Environmental Health & Safety standards for Pratt & Whitney Canada. Pipe stress analysis was performed to incorporate appropriate supports and expansion joints for pipe expansion and contraction over the -40ºC to 40ºC design range.
WLEE also prepared the tender documents, managed the bidding process, and provided construction support.
